Show Do Cafe Poster

A Graphic Design Project commissioned by the Fringe Festival

"Show do Café is a reflection of the social, cultural and historical influence coffee has in Pōneke and Brazil.

The narrative begins in Brazil and travels to Aotearoa, the story delves into the themes of slavery, hard work, love, hospitality and humour. Coffee is the subject through which this story will unfold, unravelling its origins, process and rich history.

Wellington, as the coffee capital of the world, has over 300 cafes, most of which serve coffee who’s origin comes from South America and more specifically Brazil. Coffee is deeply rooted as part of our culture here in the Pōneke, but few people understand the origins and stories involved and how the beans come to New Zealand. There is history behind the families, workers, and individuals that for generations have grown and loved coffee, so that the same love can be shared as a hot drink on the other side of the world."
